It's not often an angling product comes onto the open market which meets the 99.9% criteria of quality, usability and price. This range of durable hook boxes, fulfills the hair-rig hook carrying capacity needs of any angler, anywhere, anytime. They have all been specifically designed by the Matchangler.com team, to meet the needs of all competition and pleasure angling sessions, which involve using hair rigs, whether for the Method Feeder, Bomb or Pellet Waggler.

All boxes are hand-made and manufactured from lightweight Alder and Birch wood and given two base undercoats before being sealed with three coats of waterproof varnish/lacquer, which will last for many years… assuming basic care is taken with them of course! They are not made for leaving out in the rain or dropping in the water!!!

Each box style contains enough hook pins for even the most avid and demanding angler, to maintain a well-stocked box of method hair-rigs. All hook pins are placed 15mm from the edge of box to allow for most normal hair-lengths. The addition of a white laminate strip, near the hook pins, allows you to use a soft pencil to write the hook details. This system permits you to simply rub out the old information and replace it easily, as and when required. We even start you off with a free pencil.

These boxes reflect a level of workmanship and quality fittings that is not currently available on the UK market. There are, however, many inferior and cheaper plastic products on the market, which limit the angler’s ability to carry enough hook variations in such a compact and safe form. We feel strongly that these boxes cannot be matched for price and quality in any other similar form. They do, in fact, set a new benchmark for others to try and copy!

The boxes have been designed for hair-rig use, and not to be confused with other pole rig boxes!

There are four styles to choose from, a Pellet Waggler/Bomb box, a 6/10cm Method Combination box, a specialised 6cm (23/8”) Method box and another at 10cm (4”). Each box carries the following individual specification:

Pellet Waggler/Bomb box for hair-rigs or standard hook lengths

  • Lightweight Alder and Birch wood, 54 x 16 x 4.7cm folded
  • Hook pins: 18
  • Hook lengths: 30.5cm (12”), 40cm (153/4”) and 49.5cm (191/2”)
  • Maximum capacity of hooks possible (based on a recommended 10 hooks per pin): 180

6/10cm Combination Method box:

  • Lightweight Alder and Birch wood, 35 x 20.5 x 4.7cm folded
  • Hook pins: 72
  • Hook lengths: 48 x 10cm, 24 x 6cm.
  • Maximum capacity of hooks possible (based on a recommended 10 hooks per pin): 480 x 10cm, 240 x 6cm (720 hooks in total!!!)

10cm Method box:

  • Lightweight Alder and Birch wood, 35 x 20.5 x 4.7cm folded
  • Hook pins: 44
  • Hook lengths: All 10cm
  • Maximum capacity of hooks possible (based on a recommended 10 hooks per pin): 440.

6cm Method box:

  • Lightweight Alder and Birch wood, 35 x 20.5 x 4.7cm folded
  • Hook pins: 66
  • Hook lengths: All 6cm
  • Maximum capacity of hooks possible (based on a recommended 10 hooks per pin): 660.

PLUS: All boxes include these standard high quality features:

  • Top lid fitted with 2mm rubber tubing to seal the box and minimise condensation.
  • Measuring holes to set each hook to the correct length with a magnetic strip to hold the measuring pins.
  • All fittings are in brass and given two coats of laquer.
  • Cork inner base to protect hook line from high temperatures.
  • White panel for writing hook sizes and line strengths. This allows you to use a standard soft pencil (included in each box), which can be rubbed out easily… (no need to use correction fluid anymore!). 

A 2mm rubber tube is recessed into the lid of each box, to give a seal, which keeps condensation and water ingress down to a minimum.
